Personal and Digital at the Same Time
Here at tekom, we find ourselves in the midst of change, which we would like to actively shape together with our members. To learn more about our members’ wishes and needs, we sent out a survey in Autumn 2019. Nearly 800 members in all age groups and with different professional requirements provided comprehensive feedback to the tekom board.

The intelligent information Request and Delivery Standard (iiRDS) is listed in this year's publication of the Standardization Roadmap Industrie 4.0. Among other things, the Standardization Roadmap Industrie 4.0 describes the current state of development of Industrie 4.0 as well as requirements for standards.

tekom Europe Announces Its Newly Elected Executive Board
On March 20, tekom Europe delegates, guests from 16 countries, gathered for a virtual assembly of delegates – the highest decision-making body of tekom Europe. The full-day assembly, which was supposed to take place in Prague, has been replaced by a virtual one, due to the COVID-19 outbreak. The necessary resolutions and elections were carried out by electronic means.

Technical Communication and Technical Translation - Two Sides of the Same Coin?
They are all working towards the same goal: technical writers and technical translators want to bring information on a technical product to the market for users. Their tasks are different and so is their technical background – but aren't they just two sides of the same coin? The aim of the Translating Europe Workshop, which took place on December 3 in Brussels, was to discuss this and draw up an action plan for cooperation and better training. Representatives from academic teaching in translation, the translation industry and technical communication met to focus on the new challenges facing technical translation.

tekom Europe announces its newly elected delegates
In November, the European members elected their delegates for the country organizations. All together, tekom Europe has 11 country organizations. In total, we received 21 candidate applications for 10 country organizations and for the position of one common delegate for all members in countries where no country organization has been founded yet.

tcworld conference 2019 in Stuttgart: Experts share their knowledge in technical communication with around 4,550 inquisitive visitors
From terminology and mobile documentation to software documentation and standards, there was relevant and applicable knowledge for almost every topic area of technical communication for the participants in our international community. In addition, Arena UX took place for the first time.

The New ISO 20607 Is Now Available
Even during its creation, since 2016, the standard project ISO 20607 caused something of a stir. On June 6, 2019, the standard was published by ISO.
