Online networking - members only

First, a huge thank you to everyone who made time to meet with the board for this online networking event. We had a few of our new members and some of the old timers in the session, and we managed to discuss a lot of different topics.

The board's plans for 2023

Maiken informed about the event plans for 2023. It will be a mix of about 13 online and on site events throughout the year. If we succeed, it will be a record year!

Introduction round

We had a few new members in the round, and they were happy too meet with some of the more experienced people in the round. Everyone contributed with great entusiasm and input.

Open discussion

We had several topics throughout the open discussion, which we list here:

ISO standards and their pricing
Legislation and that everything within the EU is available online
Translation of manuals, especially related to the machinery directive and medical device regulation
- Demands related to use of specific terminology from the legislation
- Preferred vs mandatory terminology
- Lægemiddelstyrelsen in Denmark has some recommendations
- tekom has a termbase
- tekom has work groups within specific areas incl. terminology
ChatGPT and other chatbots
- Have we tried them out?
- Are we as writers and translators in danger?
- Will they change our search habits?
- Who has the legal responsibility, if the given information is incorrect and acted upon?
